Note 1: In Slovak, when asking What is your favourite…?, we use the question word “aký/aká/aké” (what kind of/which), rather than “čo” (what). The form of “aký” changes to match the gender of the noun - for example, “Aké je tvoje obľúbené ovocie?” (What’s your favourite fruit?) because “ovocie” is neutral. With a feminine noun, we would use “Aká je tvoja obľúbená zelenina?” instead (What’s your favourite vegetable?). Plus , the verb “byť” (to be) also changes depending on whether we are talking about one thing or several. With a singular noun, we use “je”: “Moje obľúbené ovocie je jahoda”(My favourite fruit is a strawberry). With plural nouns, we use “sú”: “Moje obľúbené ovocie sú maliny” (My favourite fruit is raspberries).
Note 2: In Slovak, the expression “mám rád/mám rada” (I like) changes according to the speaker’s gender. A male speaker says “mám rád”, while a female speaker says “mám rada”. For example, a man might say “Mám rád jahody” (I like strawberries), while a woman would say “Mám rada jahody”.
