Recap

Šťastné a veselé (Vianoce)! = Merry and happy Christmas!

Note 1: In Slovak, “večer” (evening) is a masculine noun referring to the time of day, while “večera” (dinner) is a feminine noun referring to the meal. These two words are closely connected, sound very similar, but they differ in gender and meaning — one names the time, the other the food eaten during that time. So, for example: “Štedrý večer” is Christmas Eve evening, and “štedrá večera” is the traditional Christmas Eve dinner eaten at that time.
