Slovak Easter cuisine across the regions, plus the craft of egg decorating with ÚĽUV

Easter in Slovakia has always been a time when religious rituals combine with culinary traditions passed down through generations. In Slovak homes, preparation for Easter begins well before the holiday itself, with Lent shaping what people eat and how they prepare for the festive days.

In Slovakia, there are some dishes and ingredients that create the foundations of Easter cuisine, such as eggs, ham, braided pastry, pork, and, less frequently, lamb. However, it's possible to find aspects of the holiday in the West that people have never heard about in the East, especially when we take a look back through history.

Join us as we take a look at what Easter cuisine looks like in Slovakia across the regions. Plus, learn more about the craft of egg decorating with ÚĽUV, The Centre for Folk Art Production.
