Music.SK: World music made in Slovakia

In this programme, we’ll explore not only Slovak Easter traditions but also the humanitarian legacy of a remarkable woman - Alice Garrigue Masaryková. As the founder of the Czechoslovak Red Cross, Masaryková introduced the concept of the Red Cross Truce—a peace initiative once observed on Holy Saturday.

Alice Masaryková was certainly a worldly person, with a life that bridged cultures, ideas, and continents. And speaking of worldly - Slovakia is home to a vibrant world music scene. In today’s show, we’ll also explore music from artists who won the Radio_Head Award in the World Music category: singer and composer Katarína Máliková, the ensemble Ondro a kamaráti, and the Trnava-based performer Ildikó Kali.
