Surrounded by modern industrial society on every step, one needs to ask if real wilderness is nowhere to be found anymore? Erik Baláž, a documentary film maker, who is at the same time a forest ranger and an active environmentalist, found a location in eastern Slovakia which could proudly bear the title as Slovakia’s only preserved wildlife.
He also shot a documentary movie about the area - named Vlčie hory, or translated, the Wolf Mountains – which was released in 2013. Zuzana Botiková spoke to Erik Baláž, who knows this paradise lost in eastern Slovakia like the palm of his hand.
