Bratislava, Košice, Banská Bystrica, Žilina, and Poprad will welcome visitors to the largest science and popularization festival in Slovakia - the European Researchers’ Night on Friday the 26th of September.
The theme of the 19th edition is Chaos - the search for order in an unpredictable world. Lectures, workshops and discussions with scientists are prepared for the public.
"Chaos is all around us, as everyday life brings many uncertainties - technological changes, climate challenges or challenges related to healthcare. Although it may arouse concerns at first glance, science sees certain laws behind chaos," said Ľubomír Bilský, director of the civic association Slovak Organization for Research and Development Activities, which is organizing the event.
Visitors will have the opportunity to get answers directly from Slovak scientists, for example, on how to navigate this everyday chaos, what tools science uses for this, and how everyone can contribute to stability in their surroundings and community.
In addition to more than 220 scientific stands, dozens of lectures and workshops, fans of interesting discussions will also find their place. Virologist Boris Klempa and sociologist Marianna Mrva will seek answers to the question of whether and why we are becoming immune to science in Bratislava as part of one of them.
The year 2025 is also the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, declared by the United Nations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of quantum mechanics. That is why, according to the organizers, a special Quantum Zone will be part of the program, which will show visitors how quantum science affects everyday life and what future it opens up.
According to them, another novelty is that at each festival location they will welcome Slovak scientists working abroad, who will bring inspiration and experience from world science. The festival takes place from 9:00 to 23:00. The main program is in Bratislava.
