100th Waterfall Discovered in the High Tatras

A previously unrecorded 116-metre waterfall has been discovered in the Veľká Studená Valley of the High Tatras. It is the 100th documented waterfall in the mountain range, climbing instructor and discoverer Martin Murár announced at a press conference on Hrebienok on Tuesday. The find has already sparked much interest and has been included in the mountaineering project Small Climbing Manifesto Ta33.

The waterfall does not appear in any maps or scientific literature. Located at an altitude of 1,939 metres in climbing terrain, its uniqueness lies in the fact that it springs directly from the ground with no surface stream above it. According to the Tatras waterfall register maintained by Milan Lučanský, this is the 100th officially recorded waterfall in the High Tatras.
