A team of Slovak high school students won gold at the prestigious International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT), held from June 29 to July 6 in Lund, Sweden. The event brought together 36 teams from around the world to solve and defend complex physics problems in English through so-called “Physics Fights”—a format where teams present, oppose, and review each other’s solutions before an expert jury.
After five preliminary rounds, the Slovak team placed second and advanced to the final round, where they competed against Germany, China, and Singapore. They ultimately finished fourth, earning gold medals awarded to all finalist teams. Participants also took part in cultural events and visited research institutions in Lund as part of the tournament’s accompanying program.
