Severe storms continue to batter eastern Slovakia, prompting 38 emergency declarations, the Interior Ministry confirmed on Tuesday. Level II and III flood alerts remain in effect across several districts.
Crisis management teams are working with local mayors to assess damage and distribute tarpaulins for homes with wind-damaged roofs. Meanwhile, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a third-level rain warning through Friday for northern regions, including Čadca, Námestovo, Tvrdošín, and Poprad. Up to 130 millimetres of rain may fall in windward areas, increasing flood risks.
Labour Minister Erik Tomáš (Smer-SD) said affected residents can apply for one-time subsidies of up to €1,500. Labour offices are offering administrative help and psychological support on-site.
