The Research Station of the Tatra National Park Administration has obtained a modern genetic laboratory equipped with the latest technology, specifically the MiSeq sequencer. The equipment significantly broadens the possibilities for research in the fields of molecular biology and genetics.
The aim of the research is to map the diversity of microorganisms in detail and to elucidate their role in carbon fixation in the soil. It also represents a significant contribution to long-term carbon storage and to mitigating the impacts of climate change.
Another area of research made possible by the new technologies is the analysis of the dietary composition and health status of protected and rare species. The new genetic laboratory represents a significant step forward for nature conservation, ecological research, and sustainable biodiversity management in the Tatras.
