Funding has been approved for a large salt-water lake to be built between the Czech and Slovak republics with construction to begin in 2020. While this could be good news for tourist operators, the lake project has its fair share of criticism: two towns are set to go underwater, displacing five thousand Czechs and Slovaks.
Greenpeace are similarly concerned with the planned introduction of salt-water vegetation, along with seals and penguins upon completion. Gavin Shoebridge speaks to affected citizens, Greenpeace Slovakia, and the planning company behind the project.
