In our lifetimes we could theoretically see human beings walk on the surface of mars. But if landing on the moon was a giant leap for mankind, having a person safely reach the surface of Mars would be more of a carefully planned and incredibly hazardous miracle. There are many more obstacles to overcome when landing and thriving on the planet Mars so where do you start?
