Slovaks in job applying spree for Jaguar’s new plant

The arrival of the fourth carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has stirred up job-seeking madness in Slovakia, with ever more people applying for a job at the planned plant in Nitra, according to the Hospodárske Noviny daily. So far, 28,000 people have been competing for the 3,000 jobs to be offered by the car producer. The daily noted that this number is thus comparable to the population of smaller Slovak towns such as Ružomberok or Piešťany. A special website was created for job applicants. "We still expect the number of job applicants to grow, but not at such a high pace as has been the case up to now", said Veronika Cerna of the Labour Ministry which manages the website. All the data from it are already available to the carmaker, which will choose individual applicants based on their experience.
