Association of Slovak Hospitals disagrees on compromise proposed by nurses

The Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives and the Union of Nurses and Midwives offered a proposal to the government in order to find a solution in the health care crisis on Thursday. Originally, the request to increase salaries included regular pay rises based on their levels of experience. "We could drop this requirement if the basic salary would be higher", explained the Chair of the Chamber Iveta Lazorová. However, the nurses insist on the optimisation and the control of personnel number in hospitals, as well as on a change in the health care financing. On the other hand, the Association of Slovak Hospitals finds this compromise unrealistic from both financial and legal point of view. "If an agreement that cannot be covered from the state budget would be reached, our Association will not be able to realise it and we would request its examination at the Constitutional Court" said Miroslav Valaštík, the Association's office director.
