President claims strike is the last option

President Andrej Kiska met with the representatives of the Slovak Teachers Initiative which organised the strike. He named their form of protest the last resort. Nevertheless, he noticed that there has been great approval of their demands by pedagogues and experts. The President decried the intimidation of teachers. "I find it unacceptable in a free democratic society," said Andrej Kiska. As he added, they were discussing his contribution as the president to help improve the social status of teachers and also the quality of our children education. "I do not have such competence to debate each demand of this initiative or sign contracts. I can only say that we need to invest more into the school system," said Andrej Kiska, adding that this system needs deeper changes.
