The Slovak teachers' strike has entered its second day with hundreds of schools all over Slovakia being either closed or operating at limited capacity. Teachers are demanding their salaries be increased by €140 per month this year and by additional €90 the next one, additional investment in equipment in various schools worth €400 million, and a change of the system of continuing education. The Government says their requests have to be dealt with by the new Cabinet formed after the March 5th general elections.
