Bratislava is losing €82,200 a day due to a non-functioning law on permanent residence, the Hospodárske Noviny daily reported on Monday. An estimate done by the Petržalka borough councillor Oliver Kriz, concluded that as many as up to 150,000 people living in Bratislava are registered as having permanent residence elsewhere. The city is losing approximately €30 million a year on resident taxes, which represents a tenth of the city's overall budget. According to sociologist Miroslav Bahna "Changing your permanent residence demands a great deal of administration, partly because you need to change your identity card."
