The unemployment rate in Slovakia, calculated as the number of jobless people registered with the Labour Office, reached the level of 10.63% in December. The figure is by 1.6 percent lower year-on-year. The lowest unemployment rate is traditionally in the capital Bratislava and the regions surrounding it while the Prešov region in the east of the country counts the biggest number of jobless people; almost one in six of its able-to-work inhabitants.
