Lajčák: Slovakia played major role in cessation of quota talks

Mandatory quotas were among the topics of Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák on RTVS's politics show 'O 5 Minut 12' (5 Minutes to 12) on Sunday. According to him, there has been no talk in EU institutions about mandatory quotas to resettle migrants for around three months now. The Slovak Foreign Minister grants the profit for that to Slovakia and fellow Visegrad 4 countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary). "Two hundred and seventy-two people have been resettled to this day, which is 0.17 percent of the total. Even if we'd resettled all 160,000 of them, what use would this be after another million people have arrived since?" asked the Slovak Foreign Minister. "They can't blame us. The EU opted for an administrative approach to resolving a complex problem. The quotas themselves were addressed in a dilettantish fashion", said Miroslav Lajčák.
