At the age of 81, legendary sport TV commentator Karol Polak died in his hometown of Bratislava. He had been commenting on the most important international and national sports events from 1962 to 1992. For professionals, he was the example of mastering the Slovak language to perfection. Generations of not only sport viewers recognised him for his significant voice. "He was the Michelangelo of sport commenting in Slovakia", said the head of RTVS sport department Marcel Merčiak, expressing his admiration for the legend. One of the peaks of his career was commenting on the 1976 football European championship final match with the goal of Antonin Panenka securing the title for the former Czechoslovakia.
