Drunk driver swaps places with passenger in front of police

Two men who decided to stop their vehicle to exchange places caught the attention of police officers on duty near Chtelnica, a village in the Piešťany district. "There would have been nothing strange about the situation if the man taking the driver's seat didn't have a cloth wrapped around his hand", informed spokesperson from the Trnava regional police department Mária Linkešová. After the driver and passenger changed places in front of an unmarked police car with officers inside, the duo continued driving. Police stopped them shortly afterwards to investigate, before alcohol testing both men. "The breath test showed that the 47-year old who left the driver's seat had 1.17 per mill of alcohol in his blood. The officers took his driving licence away and brought him to the police station. He was charged with endangering under the influence of addictive substances in so called 'super-fast' action", added Linkešová. Since this was not his first drink-driving case the passenger could end up in jail for two years.
