Slovakia is among the group of twenty countries with the most endangered pension systems. This is according to a Global Atlas Pension study compiled by experts with the Allianz group which analyses demographic trends and pension systems in fifty selected countries, including Slovakia. The study attributes Slovakia's ranking not only to demographic factors such as a rapidly aging population and a comparatively low birth rate but also to large spending on pension payouts. Using the Pension Sustainability Index, Allianz experts ranked the countries according to sustainability of the national pension system. Slovakia placed 35th in this chart.
