Foreign Minister Lajčák: Muslims aren't a risk, unchecked migrations is

On Wednesday, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák said that there is an integrated Muslim community of about 5,000 people living in Slovakia which represents a contribution to our society. This came in response to Prime Minister Robert Fico's statements against the emergence of a compact Muslim community in the country which he was heavily criticized for. "The Prime Minister wanted to point out the unchecked influx of migrants. We still don't know who all the people who are coming to Europe are," said Minister Lajčák. He reasoned that: "If a group of people comes that has more than you can integrate, then a parallel community emerges about which you don't have insight, so you can't rule out risks - including a security risk". A solution to the situation according to Minister Lajčák is the consistent registration of migrants and separating asylum seekers from economic migrants. When asked whether Fico used suitable words, Lajčák responded that Fico is responsible for the Government, the state as well as for his statements.
