The Social-democratic Smer-SD party of Prime Minister Robert Fico would win the general election with 34.5 of the votes, says a poll conducted by the MVK agency at the end of the year 2015. Its preferences have fallen, however, by about 2 percent since November. Thus Smer would need at least one partner to have a majority in the Parliament. Currently the non- parliamentary party Sieť (Network) came second in the poll with almost 15 percent followed by the nationalists (Slovak National Party) with a little over 10 percent. The Christian democrats kept their numbers stable at over 8 percent. Three parties - Most-Híd, the ethnic Hungarian SMK and the Ordinary Citizens (OĽaNO) were just a little above the 5 percent threshold needed to get to Parliament. The recently established party "Sme rodina" (We are family) has gained almost 3 percent but still not enough to make it to Parliament.
