Last year was the third best in the history of Košice's Airport, with the numbers of flights and passengers increasing, its spokesman Juraj Tóth told TASR on Tuesday. A total of 410,449 passengers were handled at the airport in 2015, a 15-percent increase year-on-year. The largest proportion concerned regular flights, with the biggest interest in the daily connection to London. Košice Airport board chairman and executive director Michael Tmej said that the airport is looking optimistically into the future. "We're working intensively on further improving flight availability in eastern Slovakia. We're very glad that, thanks to the Košice Runway Run event, we'll feature in the Košice European City of Sport 2016 project," said Tmej.
