South Korean automobile maker Kia Motors in 2015 produced 338,000 cars. This amounts to year-on-year growth of 4 percent. In a year-on-year comparison, the production of engines in Slovakia also recorded growth in 2015 by 18 percent, as their number swelled to 582,000 units. In the past year, the factory also produced its 2,000,000th car and 3,000,000th engine. In December, Kia Motors Slovakia received from the Slovak Financial Directorate the Merkur award for being the largest taxpayer. In 2014 it paid €103.95 million in taxes. It was the third such award collected by the company.
