Activists from the 'No to the Pipeline' civil association will install a 30-metre-long model of the planned Bratislava-Schwechat Pipeline on Hviezdoslav Square in the centre of Bratislava, Miroslav Dragun of the association said. The model is to show people what might soon be under their homes, pointing to the absurdity of routing the oil pipeline through the city centre and the most populous Bratislava borough of Petržalka.
"We consider it vital that citizens of Bratislava along with visitors to the city are aware of the fact that the Economy Ministry is planning to build the pipeline under the city centre and the most frequently used road communications," explained Dragun. People can say their “no” to the pipeline adding their signature onto the model. The unusual petition will be brought to the session of the Bratislava city hall and then handed over to Economy Minister Tomas Malatinský.
