According to Interior Minister Robert Kalinak, the main failure in solving the current migration crisis in Europe is abandoning the rules that individual states should obey. As he said for the press agency SITA, Greece did not work well. "Simply said, their incapability of protecting the outer border meant that the migration wave was huge," said Robert Kalinak. The Interior Minister finds the activation of RABIT teams, the FRONTEX rapid reaction units, should have been the first reaction. As he added, the western countries that invited migrants to their territories failed in estimating the number of people moving to Europe. "I don't criticise them. It only gives a good picture of how long it took and what had to happen until western countries realised that it is important to speak about a problem, to discuss it and seek solutions openly and not to hide behind political correctness and human rights, no way," concluded the Slovak Minister. According to him, the foremost task must be the security of European Union citizens. After securing citizens, we can make great gestures to people in peril. "Otherwise there will be our citizens who find themselves in peril. That's the main problem," said Robert Kalinak.
