The number of Slovaks studying at universities in the Czech Republic is increasing. According to a survey by the independent Academic Ranking and Rating Agency, there are currently about 23 thousand Slovak students attending Czech universities. The figure is doubled when compared to the situation 10 years ago. The survey has shown that mainly quality young people leave Slovakia to get a higher quality education. The Slovak Education Ministry has a plan for strict control of university quality in order to fight the loss of students. According to Minister Juraj Draxler, it should not be only research that is controlled. "We also have to measure other factors such as pedagogical processes or services provided to students," he added. It is, however, not clear when the new measures will be implemented.
