The European Union still isn't ready for the migration crisis, and a new wave of migrants may head for Europe in the spring, said Prime Minister Robert Fico at a press conference on Sunday, after returning from last week's EU Summit in Brussels. "If two million refugees get on their feet and we view the protection of external borders as we do now, the European Union won't have a chance in dealing with the wave of migrants that will come here in the spring of 2016," said Fico. According to him, this isn't scaremongering but is in line with statistics. In this regard, Fico welcomed the EU's proposal to set up a common European border and coast guard. "If some country by chance isn't able to protect a border that is a Schengen area border, and the Schengen border is also our border, then an international decision within the EU will be essential, and we'll have to protect this border with international police or border units," said Fico.
