Slovak-German relations not hurt by differences on mandatory migrant quotas

Slovak and German opinions continue to differ on the issue of mandatory migrant resettlement quotas, told the Slovak Speaker of Parliament Peter Pellegrini to his German counterpart Norbert Lammert. However, as Pellegrini claims this hasn't adversely affected bilateral relations between Bratislava and Berlin. During his visit Pellegrini had put the Slovak situation into context and at the same time proclaimed that the Slovak position on the issue is unalterable. Lammert "expressed no criticism or negative stance" to this, claims the Slovak representative. The two politicians also discussed aid for countries where the migration crisis originates and an assistance programme for Turkey where Slovakia's contribution entails approximately €13 million. The Slovak delegation also met with German Education Ministry State secretary George Schutte to discuss dual education programmes led by German companies in Slovakia.
