Syrian Protestors Hold Rally in Bratislava

Approximately 150 protesters gathered at Bratislava’s SNP Square yesterday, calling for a peaceful resolution to the situation in Syria. The protest march also moved to the US and French embassies. “There's no other alternative than a peaceful way,” Syrian protest organiser Yalal Suleiman told the TASR news agency.

He added that the Slovak public is not well informed about the situation there. “Here, next to the Monument of the Slovak National Uprising, we will celebrate peace. We want to say that Slovak public condemns the violation of international rights,” said Suleiman, who is the unofficial head of the local Syrian community. In front of the US and French embassies, protesters read aloud their appeal, in which they reject the efforts of the US and its allies to carry out military intervention in Syria. The protestors also included members of the Slovak Communist Party and Slovak nationalists.
