Prime Minister: “Slovakia Cannot Do Without EU Money”

Prime Minister Robert Fico believes Slovakia is not able to survive without money from EU coffers. “Almost 80 percent of all public investments in Slovakia are financed from EU funds,” he stated during the regular parliamentary question time on Thursday. On the other hand, the insufficient absorption of EU funds may cause Slovakia to miss out on the approximately €680 million it was allocated from EU coffers. However at the EU summit Slovakia along with Bulgaria succeeded to gain an exemption that enables them to prolong drawing on EU funds by one year.
