Former Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Commission for the Business Environment of the Parliamentary Economic Affairs Committee Juraj Miškov asked several Cabinet ministers to explain the dramatic fall of Slovakia in the global competitiveness ranking. Prime Minister Robert Fico questioned the relevance of the survey after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Also Labour Minister Jan Richter questioned the fall of Slovakia in the competitiveness ranking. “This assessment does not confirm at all any negative impact of the Labour Code on the business environment and hence the need for its revision,” Richter responded to criticism of opposition MP Zsolt Simon (MOST- HID), who asked Richter during parliamentary question time if he is not considering modifying the Labour Code because of the fall of Slovakia in the ranking.
