Ban on Abortions Killed By Parliament

The Slovak Constitution won't feature a ban on abortion, euthanasia, artificial insemination and registered partnerships, as the proposal drafted by three opposition MPs was turned down by Parliament on Thursday. The proposal aimed to change the previous wording of the Constitution 'Human life is worth protection even before birth' to 'an unborn baby also has the right to life'. The list was to also include a ban on any eugenic practices in relation to persons and unborn children, as well as bans on surrogate motherhood and the cloning of humans and unborn children. The opposition MPs also proposed to include the sentence: "Registered partnerships are to be prohibited," in the Constitution.
