Mandatory quotas for the resettlement of migrants are not a good solution because they fail to address the cause of migration that Europe will still face for years to come, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said after meeting her Slovak counterpart Andrej Kiska in Bratislava on Wednesday. Grabar-Kitarovic, who is on an official visit to Slovakia calls for a joint European approach because partial solutions are nothing but a dead-end and pointed out that even with the most generous of intentions in mind, the EU doesn't have the capacity to accept the millions of migrants from the whole world who are interested in coming to Europe. According to Slovak President Andrej Kiska, the discussion of this issue in Slovakia has been distorted significantly by the upcoming general election. The two presidents also discussed the need to diversify energy sources and concurred on the need to quickly integrate candidate countries of the western Balkans with the EU and NATO. Croatia joined the EU in 2013 and NATO in 2009.
