Defence minister Glváč discusses US-Slovak relations at the Pentagon

"The Slovak Republic puts special importance on cooperating with the United States of America as our strategic partner", said Slovak Defence Minister Martin Glváč during his visit to the Pentagon. He discussed cooperating in the field of defence, Slovakia's expenditures in this sphere, the fight against terrorism and the participation of Slovak soldiers in Afghanistan with the US Deputy Secretary of Defence Robert O. Work. As the Slovak Defence ministry claims, Work welcomed the fact that Slovakia is increasing its expenditures on defence and also welcomed its attitude on the situation in Ukraine. Slovakia's assistance to France in the fight against terrorism was also mentioned in the discussion, as was the setting up of a new NATO Centre for Counterintelligence Capabilities in the years ahead. The two politicians agreed that given that this would be a first of its kind centre in Slovakia, this is a clear signal of the country's commitment towards NATO.
