Around 5,000 teachers plan to join an industrial action called Babysitting Day, which will be held on Thursday, December 10, according to the organizers of the protest, the Initiative of Bratislava Teachers (IBU). About 300 schools are expected to be affected. They will play with pupils rather than teach them, with the aim to show that the hourly wage of a qualified Slovak teacher is equal to that paid for babysitters. A teacher, however, has to take care of 20 children for the same pay.
