200 more nurses join the mass resignation

A total of 189 nurses from the Trenčín Faculty Hospital handed in their resignations on Monday. The nurses thus joined some 960 of their peers from six other hospitals in Slovakia. The nurses are dissatisfied with how the Health Ministry has dealt with their complaints about pay and working conditions. The mass resignations are also an attempt to counter a bill approved in November. The nurses bemoan the fact that the legislation will increase the salaries of over 20 occupations working at hospitals, but won't apply to their peers working in doctor's offices, spas and social service facilities. Also, they demand that factors such as the number of years one has worked in the sector be included in the calculation of one's pay.
