Visegrad Four to create Friends of Schengen group

The Visegrad Four group including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia wants to initiate within EU the creation of a broader Friends of Schengen group. The prime ministers of the V4 member countries passed a decision at their summit in Prague on Thursday. V4 reiterated its rejection of "mini-Schengens" in EU as well as any attempt to use European funds as a leverage to exert pressure on EU states in the issue of migration crisis. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico voiced concerns about the capabilities of some EU member states to guarantee the protection of the Schengen borders. Fico confirmed that the Slovak Government is prepared to aid either bilaterally or at the V4 level any state that faces problems with this.
