The Wednesday meeting of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic will be dominated by counter-terrorism measures. Already last week, Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that the Security Council will have to consider legislative means that target terrorism, especially after the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13. The Council plans on drafting specific legal proposals, which will go to the parliament in a shortened legislative procedure. Changes should among other, concern the Code of Criminal Procedure, e.g. that the person suspected of terrorism should be imprisoned, and the rights of such accused should not be the same as any others accused. In addition to legislative changes, the Security Council will talk about strengthening the fight against terrorism also by technical and personnel means. Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák admitted last week that this process will take at least three years and that counter-terrorism measures will cost millions of Euros.
