Parliament to boost supervision over IT means

A special commission will oversee the lawfulness of wiretapping citizens by security services, according to an amendment to the law on the protection of privacy against the unauthorized use of information and technical means (Law on protection against electronic surveillance), approved by Parliament on Tuesday. A commission of eight will include six members nominated by Parliament's special audit committee for supervising the activities of the Slovak Intelligence Service, the special audit committee for supervising the activities of Military Intelligence and the committee for defence and security. The commission will check on the use of ITP once a year or at any time on its own initiative, on the initiative of any of the three aforementioned committees or of an ordinary citizen.
