Slovakia among new EU states with lowest provided development aid
Among the 13 new EU members, Slovakia ended up second from the bottom in the dispension of official development assistance (ODA), as in terms of percentage of gross national income (GNI) it only scored higher than Latvia in 2014. According to a 2014 Evaluation Report drafted by NGOs and released Friday, even Croatia - an EU member since 2013 - spent a higher percentage of GNI on development cooperation than Slovakia. In 2014, the Slovak Republic provided the official development assistance worth €61.29 million or 0.084 percent of GNI. The top three states that provided the largest amount of aid in 2014 were Malta (0.20 percent of ODA/GNI, €16 million), Estonia (0.15 percent of ODA/GNI, €28 million) and Slovenia (0.13 percent of ODA/GNI, €46 million).
