Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico received the 'Man of the Year 2012 of Central and Eastern Europe' award at the economic forum in the Polish town of Krynica on Tuesday. “I take it as an acknowledgement of Slovakia's position, as I see Slovakia as a country that is stable in political, economic, financial and social terms. It feels nice to be awarded such an international award,” the Slovak premier reacted after receiving this token gesture award in front of journalists. He received the prize from representatives of the organiser of the forum Eastern Institute, but also from the hands of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
“Donald Tusk is a friend of mine, even if he's from a different political camp than me ... Just like him, I too feel that Slovakia is a stable country, that we've accomplished a lot and that, looking at the facts and figures, we're not doing badly at all,” said Fico. He was speaking in the wake of Tusk's address in which the Polish official praised the fact that Poland and Slovakia have overcome the crisis without major damage.
