President Ivan Gašparovič received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany Michael Georg Schmunk on Tuesday, the President's Office announced on the same day. The president praised Slovak-German relations, the intense political and economic co-operation and European partnership.
Deepening of Slovak-German relations over the years has been, according to the president, confirmed by numerous bilateral contacts at the highest level. "Traditionally, Germany is one of our most important economic partners. Since 1998 it has ranked in first place in our foreign trade, which in 2012 was an impressive €23 billion," said Gašparovič.
