The new Canadian Government led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau plans to accept more immigrants, including those from Slovakia, Peter Green from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) in Slovakia informed TASR on Wednesday. Green said that Canada is to give importance to accepting double the number of an immigrant's relatives in the so called 'Family Class'. According to CCC, Canadian Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister John McCallum wants to raise the quota in the Skilled Workers category significantly, based on which immigrants with professional skills may relocate to Canada. It is in this category that several hundreds of Slovaks are expected to relocate there. Canada's new Liberal party Government also raises the age limit of children that are able to immigrate to Canada, together with their parents, from 19 to 22. The Canadian Cabinet also plans to ease the access of people with working visas and student visas to be granted permanent residence in Canada and subsequently citizenship.
