Approximately 71,000 school employees will receive extraordinary bonuses before Christmas, with the Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry allocating €9.6 million for this purpose, its spokesperson Beáta Dupaľova Ksenszighová told TASR on Tuesday. The money will be added to teachers' salaries for November, with each person receiving €100. Education Minister Juraj Draxler explained that the resources were found in cooperation with Finance Minister Peter Kažimír. "I know that €100 will vanish in households very quickly, but I would be glad if society viewed this as a clear sign that we're thinking about the financial situation of teachers", said Draxler. According to Draxler, it's still a valid argument that the financing of education needs to be reset. Draxler insists that the volume of finances for education must rise significantly. According to him, such a guarantee should be included in the Government's programme declaration. The ministry specified that the bonuses will be given to teachers in schools overseen by municipalities, regions and by church and private operators.
