Slovak volunteers offer their homes to refugees

At least 160 Slovak volunteers are offering their homes to refugees, while the new initiative ktopomoze.sk (who'll help) has found more than 2,000 volunteers willing to assist refugees with integration into Slovakia. This was reported by the SME daily on Tuesday. At the moment, more than 2,000 people have signed up for the initiative, while the 160 who have offered accommodation facilities could theoretically accommodate all 200 refugees that the Slovak Government is willing to accept voluntarily. Meanwhile, a total of 380 people are willing to help refugees with accommodation expenses, while 847 people would help with Slovak language lessons and 850 people with finding a job or even by hiring the refugees themselves. The daily notes that this means that each refugee in Slovakia would get a person to accommodate them, two people to help with their living costs, four people to teach him or her Slovak and also four to help him or her work. According to non-governmental organisations, finding accommodation is one of the most difficult activities concerning the integration of refugees. "We're very pleased with these figures and we're pleased with every bit of help and willingness of people to commit themselves to those in need", stated ktopomoze.sk. "This shows that the Slovakia's real capacities to help refugees are much higher than we think", added Martin Dubéci from the 'Plea for Humanity' initiative.
