The global order established after the Cold War is coming to an end, said Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák in a speech at a political security conference held in the Latvian capital Riga over the weekend. "This is leading to the creation of a vacuum often filled by non-standard and dangerous actors," said Lajčák at the final panel discussion dedicated to the future European order. He stressed that if the EU wants to adapt to the changing circumstances and become a global power, it needs to address its internal problems first. "If we want to be a global leader, we need to lead by example, without forcing anything on anyone or applying double standards. We need to support and respect rules, principles and values," said Lajčák.
