Presidents debate NATO summit and peaceful solutions in Bucharest

Slovak President Andrej Kiska took part at a meeting of presidents from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Poland and Romania in Bucharest on Wednesday. The heads of state discussed the preparations for the upcoming NATO summit due to be held in Warsaw in July, long-term adaptation to the deteriorating security situation in the world, the future of the NATO-Russia relations and NATO enlargement. At the meeting Kiska emphasised the inevitability of finding peaceful solutions, which will contribute to security in Europe, especially in times of aggravated situations stemming from the crises in Ukraine and Syria. According to the Slovak President, the main mechanism for finding solutions should remain the abiding of international law. Participants of the meeting agreed that in the case of an emergency every state is entitled to accept essential measures, whether collective or individual.
